Exhibitions Market

International Exhibitions Market

In recent years the exhibitions market has passed through a period of uncertainty, as many people have considered that with the development of new technologies and in particular the internet, Exhibitions might tend to lose their usefulness. However, nothing of this kind has occurred, as the personal contacts that are made in the context of an Exhibition cannot be replaced by communication at a distance. Thus the global exhibitions market, despite the adverse predictions of many people, has developed rapidly and expanded into other fields as well.

In particular, the international exhibitions market has recently seen the formation of a regime in the sector of Exhibition organisation in which large combinations of multinational organising companies determine the market, having informally distributed thematic areas and geographical units between themselves. With exactly the same methodology the map of international and regional events has initially been drawn up.

Greek Exhibitions Market

As regards the Greek exhibitions market, it has developed anarchically, extremely quickly and without concrete planning, with the result that the term ‘Exhibition' is in danger of becoming corrupted, with events providing services of low quality, and in centres that are in no way suitable for the development of such activities.

In this environment the ERI has come to play an important role in the reorganisation of the market and in the improvement of its overall environment. Thus by amassing useful statistical data as well as through proposals for its focused and well-planned development, the ERI seeks to organise the exhibitions market.
