For event certification (auditing),
the ERI has developed a methodology which is based on international
experience.
In auditing studies the following procedure is applied:
- Firstly there is a thoroughgoing
discussion with the Organiser regarding the qualitative and quantitative
aims of the exhibition.
- Next, all the necessary forms
for the carrying out of the research are drawn up. These forms are: questionnaires
for Exhibitors and Visitors, diary of activities, records of
commercial visitors etc.
- Following this, research on
Exhibitors and Visitors is conducted by specialised researchers, under the
overall scientific supervision of the ERI.
- After the end of the Organised Event the questionnaires are processed and analysed and within 45 days (according
to the size of the Organised Event) we deliver to the Organiser the study, together with the processing and evaluation of the
results, the report, and the evaluation in terms of the aims originally
set.
The overall evaluation of the organised event is based on the
quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the Exhibition along with the
results of the research on Exhibitors and Visitors.
In particular the quantitative characteristics that determine the
success of an Exhibition are based:
- on the financial return
- on the square metres leased
- on the number of tickets sold
- on the number of catalogues sold
- on the income arising from
services rendered
- on the number of Exhibitors
- on the number of Visitors.
In addition the qualitative features that determine the success of
the exhibition are based:
- on the type of Exhibitors (degree
of correspondence of Exhibitors to the
designation of the Organised Event)
- on the type of Visitors
(commercial visitors)
- on the response of the Media and
the Press
- on the prevailing atmosphere (ambience) during
the course of the Exhibition
As regards the results of the research, during the processing of visitor questionnaires we bear in mind:
- their position in the company
- the area they come from (e.g. abroad,
Greece,
the area where the Exhibition is held)
- the field they represent
- the length of their visit
Cross-checking of the results of the Visitor questionnaires with
those of the Exhibitors is judged necessary in order to arrive at representative conclusions from the research.
Finally, the
Organiser decides which parts of the study he wishes
to publicise for the better promotion of the next exhibition.
