The purpose of the Exhibitions Research Institute is:

  • The creation and maintenance of a database concerning exhibition centres in Greece.
  • The creation and maintenance of a database regarding exhibition events organized in Greece.
  • The collection of data from all trade fairs in respect of their size (number of exhibitors, number of square metres, ratio of foreign exhibitors to visitors, etc).
  • The conducting of ascertainment studies (auditing) for exhibition events according to the directives of the organiser.
  • The organisation of training seminars in exhibition management and marketing for public and private sector staff.   
  • Studies of the exhibition market and industries.
  • The development and updating of operational specifications for exhibition centres and events in accordance with international standards.
  • The evaluation of the economic impact of exhibition events on the local and regional economy, by means of the econometric calculation of the exhibition multiplier along with the effects of exhibitions against basic macroeconomic variables such as the increase in income per capita, increase in number of job openings etc.
  • The conducting of studies for the State concerning competitive sectors of the national economy and the need to support exhibition sectors that can become competitive within an international environment.
  • The establishment and updating of a database on the world's most important exhibition events according to sector, time period, geographical area etc.
  • The creation of a network with similar international organisations and institutes for the mutual exchange of expertise.
  • Cooperation with domestic and international educational foundations towards the promotion of exhibition management and specialisation among Greek exhibition market operatives.
  • The provision of consulting services to all those with an interest in its field.
